While the Xerces Society‘s Bug Banter podcast is consistently interesting and informative, I found the 7 January 2025 episode “The Power of Policy: Insect Protection Through State Authority” particularly so. I was shocked to discover how many U.S. states had no oversight over invertebrate conservation, especially in the instances where the reason for this is that no one in the state’s government has determined under which department such activity should be placed.
If you’re interested in invertebrates, particularly in the conservation of them, I very much recommend giving ear to this episode, and subscribing to the Bug Banter podcast so you don’t miss any future ones.
