The first time I heard Senator Barack Obama speak, I thought “Wow, this guy should run for president someday.” Over the years, I have become increasingly impressed with his ideas, his passion, and his vision for a better America. The last time I heard him speak, I thought “We need this man to be president.”

Never before in my life have I so ardently believed in the vision and the abilities of any candidate for political office. Never also before have I felt our nation in so dire need of the true leader that I believe Senator Obama to be with all my heart.

The results will not be known ’til past sunset on November 4th the day itself shall be long; filled with anticipation and worry. As I write this, upon the eve of the balloting, I think upon the dialogue between King Henry V and the French herald Montjoy in Shakespeare’s immortal Henry V (I was an English major – so sue me):

KING HENRY V
I tell thee truly, herald,
I know not if the day be ours or no;
For yet a many of your horsemen peer
And gallop o’er the field.

MONTJOY
The day is yours.

KING HENRY V
Praised be God, and not our strength, for it!

I ardently hope that I shall be able to utter these same words.

Peace and good voting.
