One of the sublime joys in life is when two things you really enjoy come together in one place and time. Such is Speaking of Faith this week. In “Whale Songs and Elephant Loves,” Krista Tippett interviews Katy Payne, Research Associate in the Bioacoustics Research Program of Cornell University’s Laboratory of Ornithology and founder of the Elephant Listening Project.

Katy’s reflections on her work in studying the vocalizations and communication methods of both elephants and whales are well worth the time spent listening to the interview all in themselves. But as this is Speaking of Faith, she also speaks in a wonderfully open-hearted manner about her spiritual life, much of it influenced by her work as a biologist.

The entire interview is available as a downloadable MP3 podcast. A little bit of extra goodness is included in the unedited extended interview MP3.

Peace and good bird watching.
