This coming May will bring the publication of two very welcome new additions to the Princeton Field Guides series that will have entomologists and general naturalists alike swarming to their local book shops. The first of these is Insects of North America by Dr. John C. Abbott and Kendra K. Abbott.

Reported to cover “all 783 families of insects currently recognized in the United States and Canada” and “illustrated with more than 3,700 stunning photos along with keys to families for many of the orders,” this new field guide should be a most welcome addition indeed to the published resources for identifying members of the Class Insecta. As it also is described as including information on matters of conservation, collection, and curation, it should well serve as a very useful book for all seeking to learn more about this astonishingly numerous and diverse group of animals.
