Word has reached me that Little Toller Books is preparing to publish a hardcover slipcased set of Richard Mabey‘s four most significant books – Beechcombings, The Unofficial Countryside, Nature Cure, and Gilbert White – in honor of his eightieth birthday.
Each of the volumes included will feature newly-commissioned jacket artworks by Michael Kirkman, and the set itself is indicated as being a limited edition.
While Little Toller is taking advance orders directly through its website, there is no word yet as to whether the set will be available through other retailers in the UK, much less if it will be available to interested readers outside of it.
I presently have enquiries pending with the publisher seeking additional information, and will update this entry in Newly Noted as discoveries warrant.
