Volume seven of the Bloomsbury Wildlife Collection is now available, and in his most recently published Sunday Book Review, it has Mark wishing for a Northhamptonshire coastline so he can more easily visit the tidepools about which he has learned from reading this new book.
Written by John Archer-Thomson and Julian Cremona, Rocky Shores presents its readers with the wonders to be disovered – in Britain at least – that is “limited in extent” yet “incredibly biodiverse.” As a creature of the north Oregon coast myself, I can well attest to the wonders that await any and all who visit a rocky shoreline and are willing to simply slow down, look down, and marvel at all the life that abounds among the rugged, exquisitely beautiful terrain.
Links to Mark Avery’s Sunday book reviews appear in The Well-read Naturalist by special arrangement. You can find all of Mark’s past reviews as well as a wide-ranging collection of his other writings on his Standing Up for Nature website. Mark’s opinions regarding the books he reviews are his own.
