Mark’s Sunday book review this week is rather a short one. Although to be fair, I think most everyone in Great Britain was at a wedding this weekend so it only stands to reason that he might have been a bit pressed for time.
In any case, his pick this week is On the Moor; Science, History and Nature on a Country Walk by Richard Carter, FCD. Some of you may know Mr. Carter from his work in founding The Friends of Charles Darwin (hence the “FCD” following his name). Short as this review is, Mark summarizes the book quite well, “The author goes for walks on the moors above Hebden Bridge (yes those moors) and his mind wanders widely, prompted by what he sees or hears.” You can read the other two sentences of the review (just kidding…) over on Mark’s blog.
Links to Mark Avery’s Sunday book reviews appear in The Well-read Naturalist by special arrangement. You can find all of Mark’s past reviews as well as a wide-ranging collection of his other writings on his Standing Up for Nature website. Mark’s opinions regarding the books he reviews are his own.
