What with my recent decision to add astronomy to my already over-stuffed portfolio of natural history and scientific interests, I’ve been paying greater attention as of late to books on the subject. And as the first astronomical object of study for beginning astronomers is generally the moon, it’s into a well-written and informative book on that object that I’ve been intending to bury my nose.
Fortunately for me – and for all others as well with an interest in the moon – the series to which I so often turn when I need to begin learning about a subject, Oxford University Press’ Very Short Introductions, has recently added the volume Moons by David A. Rothery to its expansive – as well as impressive – collection of titles.
And as an added bonus, as well as an even shorter introduction to this Very Short Introduction, I happened upon this video that Oxford posted to its YouTube channel of Professor Rothery himself giving a short talk about the subject of this new book.
