What is it like to be a bee? Not so much what does it physically feel like, but rather on a social, perhaps even an emotional level? When you think about how bees act in relation to one another, how the societies they form function – as Mark Winston, author of the new Bee Time: Lessons from the Hive, has done now for decades – it’s not all that difficult to see some decidedly positive characteristics in bee societies that would possibly improve our own if adopted. In fact, in some areas of human activity, such bee-derived lessons are already being put into use. It’s a fascinating proposition indeed, about which I very much look forward to learning more.
