Since the amateur practice of oology became widely illegal, most bird watchers and amateur naturalists never become particularly familiar with the many fascinating things about bird eggs. However the recent release by the University of Chicago Press of Mark E. Hauber’s The Book of Eggs; a Life-size Guide to the Eggs of Six Hundred of the World’s Bird Species may do much to change this for the better.
