Compleat AnglerVariously interpreted as a political analogy, religious metaphor, fishing encomium, and natural history tract, Izaak Walton and Charles Cotton’s The Compleat Angler has been continually in print since its initial publication in 1653.

Now, Oxford University Press has released a new edition edited by Marjorie Swann intended to highlight the book’s natural history content and strengthen its authors’ position as early advocates of attention being paid to the relationship between humans and the natural world.
