Eric Rutkow, author of the recently published American Canopy; Trees, Forests, and the Making of a Nation, spoke to a somewhat small but very interested and appreciative audience at the Hoyt Arboretum in Portland, Oregon on July 31st.
An examination of the inter-relationship between the history of the United States and the natural history of its forests, American Canopy promises to be an enlightening read for enthusiasts of both these subjects.
As a member of the audience for Mr. Rutkow’s presentation, I took the opportunity to live tweet the event on The Well-read Naturalist’s Twitter feed. All tweets were coded with the hashtag #AmericanCanopy.
