With the return of the rains here in the Pacific Northwest, I am reminded that autumn approaches. Autumn means many things to me, among which for the better part of the past decade has been included a visit to the lower Rio Grande Valley area of Texas, where I photographed this little Blue-headed Vireo, Vireo solitarius, at the Valley Nature Center in Weslaco. My annual visits to the area also regularly include the Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival and a visit to the NABA International Butterfly Park. Sadly, with the economy being what it is, unless I am soon contracted for the aforementioned festival, I doubt I shall be able to make the trip this year.
