First, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has left comments, sent e-mails and tweets, and communicated in all the other well known ways their good wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery following my heart attack scare the other night. I am truly grateful and would like everyone to know how very much all the positive energy directed toward my family and I means to us all. That said, I have had a few notes from well meaning friends that have said something along the lines of “What in the name of Sonja Henie’s tutu are you doing in Texas on a business trip so soon after being taken to the ER in an ambulance for chest pains?”

First, please know that my doctor knows exactly where I am, what I’m doing, and how long I’ll be here. I was in her office the day following my night in the ER and given the initial test results she cleared me for this trip. Know also that as soon as I return to Oregon I will be heading into the cardiologist for additional testing, including the expected stress tests to see just what was, and still is, causing the weirdness in my chest. As I have a trip to Panama scheduled to depart in less than two weeks, it is of the greatest importance to me to get whatever is going on identified and if possible, under control. If there is any chance that whatever is causing this would put me in danger during that trip, be assured that I will be remaining close to home and postponing Panama until another time.

Thus, here I am in Austin, Texas ready to set up and manage the Wingscapes display at the Texas Parks and Wildlife Expo. I encourage all fans of the Wingscapes BirdCam as well as any readers of Born Again Bird Watcher in the Austin area to drop by the Expo and visit the display. To those who have not previously attended the Expo, let’s just say that if it’s an outdoor recreational activity that can be done in Texas, it will be represented there. To those who have visited before, well… you already know how much fun it is and I’ll see you there.

Peace and good bird watching.
