Following my recent road-crossing sloth post, some readers have contacted me expressing their concern about the sloth’s safety. I am very pleased to be able to write that thanks to the quick actions of Yenia from Recontour S.A., our guide Luis, and the ever-valliant Jeffrey A. Gordon, the sloth was safely moved from the road to the nearby safety of the forest edge.

A bit of quick sloth trivia – Three-toed Sloths, while living most of their lives in the forest canopy, descend and move away from their usual arboreal abodes in order to defecate. It is thought that this may be done in an effort to prevent predators from discovering their location by following a “scat trail.”

Peace and good bird watching.
