As the writer of a popular nature-oriented blog, the number one comment I receive is “John, you’re such a talented writer; where can I read more of your writing?”
I always answer this question the same way, “Thanks Mom…”
Seriously though, like most any profesisonal writer who maintains a blog, my work is published more widely than inside the blogosphere. Most recently, one of my essays, “Your Backyard’s Other Winged Wonders” was featured in the current issue of The Backyard Bird Newsletter, a publication from the good people who also bring the bird watching community the eminent journal Bird Watcher’s Digest.
While perhaps not quite as widely read as “BWD,” The Backyard Bird Newsletter is a true gem of a publication that regularly features the superb writing of such highly regarded nature writers as Diane Porter, Dr. David Bird, Lynn Hassler, Kevin Cook, and Julie Zickefoose, all of whom also happen to have essays in this same present issue. As it is published in months alternate to those of Bird Watcher’s Digest, it is an excellent publication to subscribe to in addition to that fine journal to ensure that monthly doses of some of the finest writing being published today on the subject of bird watching reaches your post box without interruption.
Peace and good bird watching.
