I'm here in "The Happiest Place on Earth" with my family on a much needed vacation. I've taken a few BlackBerry photos while here with which I had meant to combine clever captions for posting in moblog style but a JavaScript error I have not previously seen is preventing me from doing so.

Like any normal bird watcher (if there is truly such a creature) I am in constant possession of an optical instrument. While this has made me a bit suspicious around the swimming pool, I don't want to take the chance of an Orange Bishop or some other southern California specialty flying by without the tool ready at hand to properly examine and identify it. However all I have noted is a dramatic lack of birds to be seen at the moment on the Disney property. Aside from the House Sparrows, Brewer's Blackbirds, and assorted domestic ducks of mixed and uncertain ancestry, no other birds have been seen. Given the considerable landscaping around the parks and the resort one would think these artificial oases would draw at least a few other species to the property. As one of the characters seen today would say, "curiouser and curiouser."

Peace and good bird watching.
