While downloading the SD card from my Wingscapes BirdCam this evening, I discovered something truly amazing – I had captured an unknown species of hummingbird on video. It doesn’t appear in any of the bird guides I own so I’m posting it for public comment in case anyone out there might be able to identify it.

For comparison, I’m juxtaposing the video of the mystery hummingbird with a known species – a Rufous Hummingbird, Selasphorus rufus, captured on video during the same day. First the Rufous Hummingbird:
